 Practice BiographyDr. Taw was born and raised in Los Angeles. He comes from a medical family as his father practiced obstetrics and gynecology for over forty years. After graduating from Occidental College in Glendale, he spent ten years completing his medical training at the John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. After serving in his last year as Chief Resident in Medicine, he joined the full-time faculty at UCLA in charge of the Noninvasive Cardiology Division. Three years later he entered private practice in Santa Monica.
He helped establish a large cardiology group practice and served as its managing partner for seven years. After deciding to avoid HMO-Managed Care, he left to form an affiliated practice devoted only to Private Medical Care. The success of this move was due entirely to the response of patients who desired a more personal and accessible approach. This philosophy of care was expanded with the opening of the Preventive Cardiology Center.7y

 Practice Biography Susan Given is a second generation native of Los Angeles. She received her bachelors degree in biology from the University of Colorado, and then attended the accelerated nursing curriculum at Saint Louis University. She received her masters degree in nursing from UCLA, and has completed a post-masters nurse practitioner program. Upon completion of nursing school she knew she wanted to work with patients with cardiovascular disease, and has done so for the last 20 years. She has worked in critical care, cardiac rehabilitation, and has worked in collaboration with Dr. Taw since 1985. She enjoys working with patients with all types of cardiovascular disease with an emphasis on prevention. She shares Dr. Taw's desire to provide personal, accessible care for patient's and their families.
