Your Cardiologist
dr_taw300x300A cardiologist is a specialist in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart and vascular disease. He or she is the ally you need when dealing with all the cardiac imaging technology, cardiac procedures, hospitalization and emergencies that can arise for heart patients. He or she evaluates symptoms, examines the heart and blood vessels and recommends appropriate treatment. Along the way he performs and interprets numerous types of cardiac tests including treadmill tests, echocardiograms, EKG's, Holter monitoring, angiograms and others. A cardiologist does not do cardiac surgery but rather evaluates the need for such surgery and helps care for patients along with cardiothoracic surgeons when patients require this form of treatment.

Ultrasound Technologist
diane300xOur ultrasound technologist is a highly trained sonographer with 25 years experience in this field. Ultrasound procedures used in Cardiology include echocardiography, vascular duplex imaging and stress echo. Echocardiography is an ultrasound procedure used extensively to make images of the heart. Vascular duplex imaging makes ultrasound images of arteries such as the carotid artery in the neck. Stress echo uses bicycle exercise with echo imaging of the heart at the same time to better and more accurately diagnose the presence of coronary artery disease.
